CHESTERFIELD — Flags lined the downtown streets as Chesterfield held its annual Veterans Day parade on Nov. 11. Residents waited patiently for the sound of the siren that signified the beginning of the parade.

Cheraw High School’s Marine Corps Junior ROTC cadets set the tone of the parade as they took the lead.

Emergency medical technicians and firefighters also took part in honoring those who have served and protected the country. Sheriff Jay L. Brooks was also in attendance.

Lee Greenwood’s “Proud to Be an American” could be heard blasting from the speakers of a South Carolina Forestry Service truck showing off its equipment.

Some veterans pulled out their classic cars for the day. Members of the American Legion marched proudly down the street.

Bands from McBee and Cheraw high schools played some patriotic tunes for spectators.

The parade started on Main Street and ended at the courthouse where a Veterans Day program was held.
