FLORENCE — Florence Little Theatre will present Disney’s “Little Mermaid Jr.” Friday, July 17 through Sunday, July 19.
Adapted from Disney’s 2008 Broadway production, the performance is a journey “under the sea” with Ariel and her aquatic friends on stage.
In a magical underwater kingdom, the beautiful young mermaid Ariel longs to leave her ocean home — and her fins — behind and live in the world above. But first she’ll have to defy her father King Triton, make a deal with the evil sea witch Ursula and convince the handsome Prince Eric that she’s the girl whose enchanting voice he’s been seeking.
Disney’s “Little Mermaid Jr.” is underwritten by McLeod Health, directed by Margaret Saverance and Elizabeth Sowell White with musical direction by Nikki Frabott. The cast features Faith Hyman as Ariel, Cooper Poston as Flounder, Jay Hilbourn as Sebastian and Dani Gainey as Ursula. The cast consists of actors all under the age of 18.
“Little Mermaid Jr.” runs Friday through Sunday and July 17-19 with performances Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m., Saturday at 11 a.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students.
Tickets can be purchased by phone, in person at the FLT box office located in downtown Florence on Dargan Street or online at www.florencelittletheatre.org/purchase. Organizers say the play is “appropriate for sea creatures of all ages.”
Box office hours are noon to 5 p.m. For more information, call 843-662-3731 or visit www.florencelittletheatre.org.
