BENNETTSVILLE — Cheraw teacher Jennifer Hayes Yates will launch her newly published Bible study book, “Let’s Run,” during a reception planned from 7-9 p.m. Saturday.
The event will be held at McArthur Farms on S.C. 38 between Bennettsville and Blenheim.
A toasty gathering is planned with warm beverages and desserts along with a brief time of worship and praise as Yates introduces her first published book.
Born in Austin, Texas as an Air Force brat, Yates spent most of her early childhood being raised in Blenheim.
She earned a degree in education from Coker College and she has spent her life in God’s word teaching Christian school and Bible for more than 20 years.
For seven years, she owned a Christian bookstore, The Shepherd’s Nook. She taught at Stevens Christian Academy, homeschooled her children and now teaches at Jesus Is Lord Christian School in Cheraw.
“This study, ‘Let’s Run’ was conceived based on a passage (Hebrews 12:1-3) the Lord gave me on Jan. 2, 2014 as my scripture for the year,” Yates said. “I decided to study it, teach it, then share it at my church. I wrote the book as a Bible study for my students at school while I was studying the Scriptures at home for myself.”
As she continued to speak at other churches using this passage and talking about her desire to publish, she was approached by a couple who felt God was leading them to finance the book’s publication. Yates said it was an answer to her prayers.
Copies of the book will be available for purchase during the event for $16.95. Yates said the book “would make an excellent Christmas gift.”
Those who have already purchased copies of “Let’s Run” are encouraged to bring them to the book launch for Yates to sign. Saturday’s reception is free and open to the public.
