Robert Foster was recently recognized as the town of Cheraw’s Safety Employee of the Year.
Foster has worked with the town’s parks and recreation department for about 10 years. Mayor Andy Ingram said he was honored to recognize Foster for his hard work.
“I see him on the road,” Ingram said. “I wave at him and he waves back.”
Scott Laney, director of parks and public utilities, was on hand for the award presentation and shared details about Foster’s work that he wrote in a letter recommending Foster for the honor.
“Robert has for many years operated the tractor/bushhog sidecutter with extreme care and concerns for the public and co-workers in an extremely hazardous work environment,” Laney wrote. “It has been about 10 years now. Robert is a team player, works well with anyone and approaches his daily work with organization and efficiency. Robert is a most valuable employee because of his attitude and work ethic and deserves this recognition for the way he approaches and carries out his daily safely and with a great deal of humility.”
Foster said a few words thanking everyone for the honor. He received a plaque and a $100 cash gift.
