The organizer of Cheraw’s popular Disney Prom for young princes and princesses is putting on a Saturday show designed to let little drivers rev their engines.

Ruthie Tillman is planning her inaugural Kids’ Day Power Wheel Car Show and Parade from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1 at Arrowhead Park, 989 State Road in Cheraw.

“I had the prom for the second year this year and it was a success,” Tillman said in an email. “With there not being much to do around here, I thought maybe I could put smiles on each of the kids’ faces by bringing them a little excitement.”

Kids can show off their Power Wheels-style miniature electric cars, take part in a dance contest and enjoy bounce houses and treats including ice cream, funnel cakes, fried Oreos, cotton candy and candy apples.

A Power Wheels parade is planned for 6 p.m., with line-up starting at 5:30. Kids don’t need to have a Power Wheels car in order to join in the fun.

Saturday’s event is held free of charge for kids and adults. For more information, call Tillman at 843-319-7314.
