Students at two area middle schools can take part in an elective Bible class offered by the Christian Learning Center of Chesterfield County this year.

After a successful pilot program at Long Middle in Cheraw, the learning center will offer the exploratory class at Long Middle and at Chesterfield-Ruby Middle for the 2015-16 school year.

Sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders who sign up for the class with parental consent will receive bus transportation each Thursday for the exploratory class. Students at Long Middle will be taken to the First Baptist Church of Cheraw and students at Chesterfield-Ruby will be taken to St. Paul United Methodist Church in Chesterfield.

Bus transportation will be provided by First Baptist Church and the Maranatha Family Center in Cheraw.

At both churches, Christian Learning Center of Chesterfield County staff will instruct children in the Bible and the basics of the Christian faith.

The learning center will have a booth during student registration from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at both Long and Chesterfield-Ruby middle schools where students and parents can sign up for the exploratory class.

The first classes will be held on Thursday, Aug. 20.
