WADESBORO, N.C. — A Cheraw man accused of committing armed robbery in July was arrested earlier this month.
Evan James Wingate, 20, is accused of making off with about $500 in cash and a pack of Newport cigarettes in the July 5 robbery of Ghulam Muhyoo Din in Anson County, according to a warrant for his arrest.
Sheriff’s deputies in Surry County, North Carolina arrested Wingate on Aug. 9.
Wingate allegedly threatened Din, Isha Jaben and Gehulam Saeeda with a black revolver during the robbery, according to the warrant.
Wingate is being held in the Anson County Jail under a $25,000 secured bond. He is due to appear in the Anson County Courthouse at 9:30 a.m. Sept. 1.
