BENNETTSVILLE — A woman has been charged in an Aug. 29 hit-and-run crash that killed a man in McColl.
Brandy Chavis Rodgers of Laurinburg, North Carolina was charged with leaving the scene of a collision involving death during the hit-and-run wreck, according to ABC affiliate WPDE.
Stephen Locklear, 27, of Laurinburg, was killed in the crash. Authorities said Locklear was walking north on U.S. 15 in McColl when he was struck by a car that fled the scene. A passerby found Locklear on the side of the road and called 911.
The television station reported last week that Rodgers was held in the Marlboro County Detention Center in Bennettsville awaiting a bond hearing. A jailer confirmed Sept. 3 that Rodgers was confined there.
