The Cheraw Arts Commission will feature the “Jazzilicious” exhibit by artist Eric McRay in October.
The exhibit with its jazz theme coincides with Cheraw’s 10th annual South Carolina Jazz Festival on Friday, Oct. 16 through Sunday, Oct. 18.
The Raleigh, North Carolina artist gives his personal interpretation of jazz, “the classical music of America” through his use of bright color, expressive brushstrokes and improvisational application of acrylic paint. His goal is to allow his audience to “hear the music and feel the intensity” as he captures the vibrancy and spontaneity of his musical subjects.
The public is invited to meet the artist at an exhibit opening from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1 at the Burr Gallery located at the Cheraw Community Center, 200 Powe St.
McCray will also be in town during the S.C. Jazz festival on Saturday, Oct. 17 at Expressions Art Gallery. Festival attendees are encouraged to drop by the gallery that day.
