FLORENCE — The Eastern Carolina Community Foundation is accepting monetary donations to support flood relief across the Pee Dee region.

Contributions will go to agencies working to meet the needs of flood victims in the area. The loss and devastation caused by flooding is ongoing in the aftermath of the rains and local need is expected to rise, according to the foundation.

The ECCF created the Pee Dee Disaster Relief Fund in 2010 at the urging of public officials in response to the tornadoes that hit Darlington County. The fund was designed specifically for emergency grant-making to agencies conducting disaster relief. It has not been pulled into action since 2010.

Since Oct. 6, the foundation has had people inquiring about ways to help locally. Donating to this fund will keep local contributions serving local citizens affected by this disaster, the group said in a news release.

Visit www.easterncarolinacf.org to make a secure tax-deductible online donation to the Pee Dee Disaster Relief Fund. Donors may also mail contributions to ECCF, PO Box 1615, Florence, SC 29503.
