Summer Quick, 12, of Chesterfield, is a South Carolina state finalist in the National American Miss pageant to be held in Greenville next month.
Organizers describe the event as a natural beauty pageant that celebrates America’s greatness, encouraging its future leaders. The pageant focuses on self-confidence, poise, learning good attitudes, new skills, setting and achieving goals.
Each year, the pageant gives away thousands in scholarships and prizes to recognize and assist in the development of young women nationwide.
Quick, a sixth-grade student at Chesterfield Ruby Middle School, is a daughter of Corey Quick-Johnson and Adam Johnson. She likes to visit the elderly in nursing homes and enjoys reading to younger children and siblings. She is involved in dance, cheerleading and softball.
The winner of this pageant will receive a $1,000 cash reward, official crown and banner, a bouquet of rose, and airfare to compete in the national pageant at Disneyland in California.
