If you want to see what your house — or downtown — looked like six years ago, you’ll need to head to the computer quickly, before Google uploads the new images taken Tuesday morning in Cheraw.
A Google camera car, sporting California tags, was moving through town and various small neighborhoods with amazing familiarity. Numerous attempts to stop the car were ignored with a quick smile and a wave. Even efforts to cut the driver off at the pass were ignored.
The camera mounted to the top of the Google car records images in all four directions at once. These images are uploaded periodically to the Google Maps website that offers streetside views of nearly every street in America and around the world.
The last time Google posted images of Cheraw was in 2008.
