Clara Mae Hinson Jackson, 83, of Chesterfield, died Thursday, July 29, 2004 at her home after a long illness.

A funeral service was held at 3:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 2 from Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church. Burial followed in Chesterfield Community Cemetery.

Born in Chesterfield County, Mrs. Jackson was a daughter of the late Milton and Jennie Walls Hinson, and the widow of Kenneth L. Jackson. She attended the public schools of Chesterfield County and was a member of Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church. She was a homemaker.

Surviving are two sons, Joe Thomas Jackson and Robert Charles Jackson of Chesterfield; eight daughters, Vivian (Dr. Harvey) Gatewood and Kathy (the Rev. Emanuel) Rorie all of Morven, N.C., Vera Jackson, Jerry Dean Little, Sue (Ben) McQueen and Patricia Jackson all of Chesterfield, and Carolyn (Roosevelt) McQueen and Linda Ford all of Cheraw; a stepdaughter, Willie Mae Peterson of Bishop, Texas; a sister, Leola Hinson Nivens of Salisbury, N.C.; a sister-in-law, Sara (Clifton) Quarles of Brooklyn, N.Y.; a daughter-in-law, Lee Doris Jackson of Florence; 28 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a number of other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by a son, Leverne Jackson, a daughter, Eva Mae Jackson, a great-grandson, and seven brothers.

Arrangements were entrusted to Flemming Funeral Home.
