Comedian James Gregory is up in years, but his grin is as youthful as the laughter he brings to the stage. Having traveled the world, literally, doing stand-up comedy for more than 30 years, Gregory opened his show at the Theatre on the Green last Thursday spinning tales of sarcasm; including his life long dream to “do a show in Cheraw!”
“Just goes to show ya,” he said. “Dreams do come true.”
Gregory combines his southern humor with things he finds interesting in today’s youth. He’s puzzled by the some of the things they do, that make no sense to him. Things like running, with no place to go.
He also poked fun of the more youthful approach to food. Butter, for instance, real butter, is nearly a thing of the past; at no fault of its own.
Gregory was born in Lithonia, Georgia, in 1946. According to his website, he worked as a salesperson until he was 36 years old, when he first began introducing performers at The Punch Line comedy club in Atlanta.
