Blair Allen Laney and Brian Robert Waters were married Saturday, June 4, 2011, at five o’clock in the afternoon at First United Methodist Church of Cheraw. Reverend Doctor Paul A. Wood, Jr., and Reverend Narcie McLendon Jeter officiated the double ring ceremony.
The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Scott Laney of Cheraw. She is a granddaughter of Mrs. Thomas Belton Laney of Cheraw and the late Thomas Belton Laney, Mrs. Letha Kelly Allen, and Mr. LeRoy Allen.
The groom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. William James Waters of Duryea, Pennsylvania. He is a grandson of Robert D. Shumaker and the late Dolores Shumaker of Pittston, PA, and Lois Balchune and the late Chas Balchune of Duryea.
The wedding was directed by Mary G. Burr. A program of music was presented by Kathy Summerlin of Summerville. A duet was sung by Mr. and Mrs. Brent Taylor of Chesterfield. Laura Nick of Columbia was the program and guest book attendant.
The Matron of Honor was Lauren Tipton of Cheraw, sister of the bride and Maid of Honor was Jenna Cauthen of Rock Hill, college friend of the bride. Bridesmaids were Jessica Forman and Emalee Bryant of Columbia, childhood friends of the bride, and Alex Langdale and Courtney Burke of Charleston, Mallory Imlach of Columbia, all college friends of the bride.
Flower girls were Nina Balchune of Duryea, PA and Sawyer Brunell of Goose Creek. Grey Brunell was the ring bearer.
Best man was Justin Wruble of Duryea, PA, childhood friend of the groom. Groomsmen were Jeff Waters and Billy Waters, brothers of the groom of Duryea, Jimmy Balchune, Jason Balchune, and Jared Balchune, cousins of the groom of Duryea, and Tom Ovens of Wilmington, NC, childhood friend of the groom.
The bride was escorted by her father and presented in marriage by her parents. She wore an ivory re-embroidered lace strapless gown with a silk taffeta draped midriff in handmade silk taffeta rolled flowers around the hem and up the back of the dress. The bride wore an ivory, single layer blusher length veil adorned with a silver pencil edge. She carried a hand tied bouquet of white Calla Lilies, white Peonies, Queen Anne Lace and white peacock feathers.
An outdoor reception was held at the home of Mrs. Belton Laney. Guests were greeted by Mr. and Mrs. Carl Forman of Cheraw. The wedding cake was cut and served by Mr. and Mrs. Richard Dixon of Chesterfield.
After the honeymoon, the couple will reside in Alexandia Bay, New York where the groom will be stationed at the United States Coast Guard Station Alexandria Bay.
The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at Rivers Edge Restaurant in Cheraw the night before the wedding.
A bridal luncheon was held at the home of Jay Hodge hosting along with Mrs. Eugene Lee and Mrs. Travis Quick.
