CHERAW — Marilyn “Harriette” Rorie, 61, died Saturday, Oct. 12, 2012.

Funeral service was held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 18, at Charity Community Church of Christ.

Interment followed at Foundry Hill Cemetery of Cheraw.

Rorie was born on Feb. 11, 1951, to the late Virgil and Rebecca Robinson Burns Sr. in Cheraw, South Carolina. She attended school in Cheraw where she graduated from Long High School, Class of 1970. She was a devoted member of Charity Community Church of Christ. Rorie found joy keeping her younger brothers and sisters in line and raising her six children. When her children became parents, it tickled her to know that she would have the opportunity to spoil her grandchildren.

Harriette is survived by her husband of 40 years, Woodrow Rorie of Cheraw, SC; six children, Woodrow TyShawn Rorie of Charleston, SC, Woodrow Duran Rorie of Columbia, SC; Woodrow Jabuaar (Denise) Rorie of San Angelo, TX; Kaytuan Smith, Tonya (Kasiem) Lee of Cheraw, SC; and Tamara “Tammy” Rorie of Charlotte, NC; a granddaughter Destiny McLaurin, four grandsons Zante Rorie, Jaylen Rorie, Ryan Rorie and Demarvious Rorie; a great grandson Demarion Rorie; her siblings, Theodore (Mary) Burns, Virgil ìHampî Burns, Jr., Thomas (Cathy) Burns all of Cheraw, SC, Mary Suza of Flushing, NY and Carolyn Harrell of Portsmouth, VA; she is also survived by seven brothers-in-law, ten sister-in laws, and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Harriette was preceded in death by a brother, Walter “Ronnie” Burns; two sisters, Janice Williams and Lubertha “Berta” Burns; two infants and a grandson Rashaud Rorie.

Flemming Funeral Home was in charge.
