The first playoff game a for local Cheraw Mite Football team was Nov. 3, in Pawleys Island.

Most of the boys have played the entire season together. They finished the regular season with a 5-2-1 record, with most games being shut-out victories. The team started the playoff season the weekend after the regular season ended. They played Green Sea Floyds and finished with a 28-0 victory.

The team resumed practicing on Monday, for more than two hours in 40 degree temperatures. After practicing, the players traveled back to Pawleys Island, on Nov. 10, and beat Latta, for the second win 12-6.

Then they continued practice, to prepare to play Timmonsville on Saturday, Nov. 17. Securing a win will mean they travel back on Nov. 20, for the championship game.

The team’s motto has been, “Educated, dedicated and motivated for life.” The boys have worked really hard at being a successful team.

The coaches have been amazing; two of the three coaches don’t even have kids on the team but they’ve worked and traveled with them every step, say team supporters and parents. They promote education and religion as well. The coaches really promoted traveling as a team, eating as a team, practicing as a team playing as a team.

The coaches are: Carl Dozier, Kary Dinkins, Robert Pitts.

The players are: Nick Dozier, Zyan Avery, Jalen Foster, Curran Cannon, Darrell McFarlan, Ke’Ante Duncan, Jacob Lindsey, Zy’Travious Dickerson, Bradley Hollimon, Kristopher Little, Tyquan Hooks-Warren, Jacob Gainey, Jordan Zeigler, Dyjon Harrington, Xavier Dixon, Daniel Roseau, Jemard Harrington, Ricky Lockhart, Justin Jones, Austin Thurmand, Ezekiel Andrade, Isaiah Barksdale.

Way to go Cheraw Allstars. These boys don't mind the cold, long hours, and long rides. They just love football. We would love to have everyone come out and support us on Saturday, November 17th at Pawley's Island.

Tired of seeing your dollars go up in gas fumes? Perhaps you'd be happier on a three-wheeled moped, like Anne Duncan and Princess, her very proud chihuahua. Duncan said she and Princess can ride as much as they like for about $2 a week.
