Actually this tall stump continues to sustain life, not only for the woodpecker, but it is a perfect nesting spot for a morning dove. If you look closely, you'll see the dove is camoflagued in the center of the stump, undisturbed by the woodpecker's search for breakfast.

The shock of Cheraw High School Coach Terrance Ford’s death last week echoed through the community. The flag was lowered to half mast that sad Wednesday morning as local clergy and others from the community offered words of comfort and prayers for students and co-workers.
