Members of the Kiwanis Club recently kicked off a campaign to provide teddy bears to children of Chesterfield County facing difficult family situations when law enforcement, or fire fighters are involved. Chief Deputy James Dixon of the Chesterfield County Sheriff's Department said he has witnessed the comfort these stuffed animals can be for children on many occasions. "It really helps to calm them," he said.

Prizes for the best hat were awarded in several categories, and cupcakes were enjoyed by all. The Easter Bunny was there too. These gobblers, and about a dozen more, were spotted making their way across the road in the Teal's Mill community last Thursday. Turkey season in South Carolina runs from April 1 until May 1, with a limit of five gobblers per season statewide, and no more than two per day, except two total gobblers for Chesterfield, Darlington, Dillon, Florence, Lee, Lexington, Marion, Marlboro, Richland and Sumter counties.
