PAGELAND — State troopers are investigating a crash that claimed the life of a Charlotte, North Carolina woman last Saturday.
The Chesterfield County coroner’s office has identified the victim as 39-year-old Felicia Raima Wright of Charlotte. The wreck happened about 5 p.m. south of Pageland on S.C. 151.
Lance Cpl. Larry Miller of the S.C. Highway Patrol said 27-year-old driver Shanice Bloomfield of Charlotte was traveling south on S.C. 151 carrying five passengers when she lost control of the 2002 Acura sport utility vehicle. The SUV ran off the road and overturned.
Bloomfield was ejected from the vehicle as was Wright, 24-year-old Quamieka C. Oughton of Charlotte, and two of the three juveniles traveling in the vehicle.
Bloomfield, Oughton and the three juveniles were airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte to be treated for their injuries. Wright was pronounced dead at the scene.
Miller said none of the three adults in the SUV were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash. The Highway Patrol is currently investigating the wreck’s cause.
The crash took place exactly one week after another fatal wreck near Pageland which claimed the life of 28-year-old Cedric Dunlap.
Troopers said Dunlap was driving a 2001 Honda that struck 28-year-old Greg Rogers’ 1993 Honda head-on after Dunlap veered out of his lane on May 16. Dunlap was pronounced dead at the scene and Rogers was airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center for emergency care.
