PAGELAND — Thirty minutes after a convenience store clerk stops the theft of several beers, county deputies take a couple into custody.

Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office charged Michael Lee Warwick, 30, of 167 Elvis Pressley Blvd., Chesterfield, and Monica Rogers, 31, of 188 Landfill Road, Mt. Croghan, with shoplifting ten bucks worth of alcohol from In & Out Mini-Mart in Pageland.

A convenience store clerk told deputies the couple entered the store around 10 p.m. Jan. 18 with Warwick distracting the employee while Rogers left with four 24 ounce beers inside her purse, which the clerk found after confronting them.

Rogers gave three beers back, but claimed the fourth came from home, according to incident reports.

Warwick gave back the fourth beer and both left the store.

About 30 minutes after the theft was reported, a deputy familiar with Warwick, led other law enforcement to a home on Mill House Lane greeted by Rogers at the door.

She reportedly admitted to taking the beer from In & Out and gave deputies the go-ahead to enter the home; lawmen reportedly found Warwick hiding in the master bedroom shower.
