Planning to start college in the fall? Wondering how you’ll pay for college? Start by filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

If you pass up this opportunity for financial assistance, it could cost you thousands in grants, work-study, low-interest federal loans and need-based scholarships, according to a report by U.S. News and World..

“Filling out the FAFSA is the most important thing you can do to get your hands on need-based money to pay for college,” said Sheryll Marshall, coordinator of financial assistance at Northeastern Technical College.

The vast majority of students who fill out the FAFSA are eligible for some sort of federal financial aid, according to Marshall.

Filling out the FAFSA can be somewhat complicated, but don’t let that deter you from applying. Just go to www.FAFSA.gov and be sure to list NETC’s Federal School Code – 007602 so the College will receive a copy of your FAFSA results. Don’t stop with your application until you click on “Submit FAFSA Now.” A confirmation page will be displayed indicating your application was received, and it will give you an idea of your eligibility for financial aid.

Apply now and save time. Computer stations and assistance are available in the Office of Student Financial Assistance at NETC, open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. until 6:30 p.m.
