JEFFERSON — Gerald E. Johnson, 68, died June 14, 2011.

Funeral services were held June 17 at Antioch Baptist Church, Jefferson. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Visitation was held June 16 at the church.

Mr. Johnson was born December 7, 1942, in Jefferson, a son of the late Burkett and Rosa Poston Johnson. He was a former employee of Caro Knit with 38 years of service. Mr. Johnson was a faithful member of Antioch Baptist Church, where he served as a former Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, and Sunday School Superintendent. In addition to his parents, Gerald was preceded in death by a son, Ricky E. Johnson Sr.; brothers, Perry Johnson, and James Heyward Johnson; and sister, Linda Price.

Gerald is survived by his wife of 48 years, Ola Faye Johnson of the home; son, Dennis Johnson of Jefferson; daughter, Marty (Robert) Ward of Jefferson; brothers, Harold (Jackie) Johnson of Lugoff, Glenn (Alice) Johnson of Jefferson, and Ronnie (Shirley) Johnson of Pageland; sisters, Mary Lou (George) Watkins of Rembert and Sybil Kirkley of Jefferson; five grandchildren, Desnie (Thomas) Faile of Lancaster, Ricky (Courtney) Johnson, Jr. of Jefferson, Fairly Johnson of Lancaster, Sky Ward of Conway, and Serena Ward of Jefferson; five great grandchildren, Nathan, Lauren, Christopher, Bethany, Brianna.
