Born in Darlington County, Mr. Jones was a son of the late Jasper H. and Lucy Sweatt Jones. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was retired from Sonoco Products Company with 31 years of service.
Surviving are his wife, Barbara Braden Jones of Hartsville; sons, John M. Jones of Hartsville, Wesley H. Jones of Tacoma, Wa., and William "Billy" Jones of Cary, N.C.; a daughter, Susan M. McGahan of Hartsville; a sister, Thelma L. McFarland of Patrick; a brother, Melvin W. Jones of Pelzer; grandchildren, Kristen Jones, Sarah Hall, Amanda Jones, Brandy Jones, Angel Hall, Linda Hall, Trina Jones and J. P. Jones; and a great-grandchild, Brianna Hall.
Arrangements were entrusted to Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home.
