A funeral service was held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 22 from First Free Will Baptist Church. Burial followed in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
Born in Chesterfield County, Mr. Laney was a son of Suzie Knight Laney and the late William Minor Laney. He was a retired machinist with Challenger Manufacturing Company. Mr. Laney was a member and former pastor of Twin Pines Free Will Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Brenda Sherrin Laney of the home; his mother of Pageland; four sons, Tim (Sandra) Laney of Taxahaw, Barry Laney and Eddie Laney of Pageland, Johnny (Kim) Laney of Clover; two daughters, Gail (Chuck) Peters of Winston Salem, N.C., and Pamela Vaughn of Buford; two stepdaughters, Darlene (Wayne) Eubanks and Anita Carnes of Pageland; four brothers, Will Laney, Roy Laney and Richard Laney of Pageland, and Bill Laney of Lancaster; four sisters, Joann West and Louise Nichols of Pageland, Carolyn Oliver of Jefferson, and Frances Stevens of Lancaster.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Pete Laney and Titus Laney, and two sisters, Lessie Hargett and Katherine Outen.
Arrangements were entrusted to Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home.
