A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15, from Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in Long Baptist Church Cemetery, Jefferson.
Born in Mt. Croghan, Mr. Joplin was a son of the late Daniel and Eliza Rogers Joplin, and was a widower of Mary Wilkerson Joplin and Inez Demby Joplin. He was a retired farmer.
Surviving are a son, Leverne Joplin of Ruby; two stepsons, Lathaniel Wilkerson of Chesterfield, and Don Miles of McBee; three stepdaughters, Viola Carnes of Jefferson, Doris Griffin of Waxhaw, N.C., and Sarah Frye of Cowpens; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Charles Joplin; a great-grandson, Johnathan Joplin; two stepsons, Olin Wilkerson and Jerry Miles; two brothers, Ed Joplin and Lester Joplin; and six sisters, Beulah Knight, Susie Threadgill, Mamie Black, Adair Steen, Ola Goodman and Nezzie Jordan.
Arrangements were entrusted to Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home.
