Lions Club to hold Candy Days
The Chesterfield Lions Club has announced Lions Sight Conservation Week will be observed during the first week of October.
Today through Saturday will serve as Lions Candy Days. Lions throughout South Carolina will be handing out Sight Saver candies. Funds raised during the annual event help support Lions sight conservation projects.
Donations to Lions on Candy Day support a mobile health screening unit and other vision programs. Here in Chesterfield, Candy Day funds support eye exams, eyeglasses, and eye surgery for those in need.
Secession Camp monthly meeting
The First Secession Camp No. 163 of the Sons of Confederate Veterans will hold its monthly meeting tonight at Mayflower Restaurant.
The program will begin at 6 p.m. The topic will be the 10 causes for secession.

Fishing Day event planned
The S.C. Dept. of Natural Resources will host a youth fishing event on Saturday at the Cheraw Fish Hatchery.
The free event is open to youths between the ages 6 and 15. All participants must be accompanied by an adult.
Space is limited to the first 150 youths to pre-register. Pre-registration will be held Oct. Sept. 29
