After a four day search, the body of James Buckley Davis, 39, has been found just off Highway 52 South in the Cash Community. Lawmen, in the process of moving Davis' motorcycle from the slight ravine where it was discovered early Thursday afternoon, are barely visible due the thick underbrush of leaves.

The four-day search for James Buckley Davis of Cheraw ended in the worst possible way Thursday afternoon. Both his body and motorcycle were found just off Highway 52 South around 1 p.m.

Although the investigation is still ongoing, Chesterfield County Coroner Kip Kiser said he was likely killed upon the impact of the crash. Davis was discovered only a few yards from the highway, engulfed by the thick underbrush of a slight ravine that managed to camouflage him.

Trooper Billy Elder, of the South Carolina Highway Department, said the crash is estimated to have taken place around 9:30 p.m. Sunday, April 8. “He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash,” said Elder.

Davis had been visiting a friend on Byrd Road of Society Hill Sunday evening, leaving for home on his motorcycle shortly after 8 p.m. He leaves behind a wife, Christie Livingston Davis, and a young daughter.

It is very sad that it took so long to find Mr. Davis. He was a wonderful man and the world lost a good man.
