Mrs. Mary Elizabeth “Liz” Gleich Wilkes, 77, died Saturday, June 9, 2012, at her home.

A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 12, at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel in Chesterfield. Interment will follow in the Patrick Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 11, at the funeral home.

Mrs. Wilkes was born July 29, 1934, in Patrick, a daughter of the late Monroe Robert and Mary Anna Bowen Gleich. She was a retired textile supervisor. Liz was a member of Patrick Baptist Church and attended Bethesda United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the WOW Lodge 516. She enjoyed cooking, working in the garden, visits from her family and friends, and talking on the telephone. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Carl Wilkes.

Survivors include a daughter, Doshia W. (Basil) Watkins of Patrick; a grandson, Tate (Summer Walls) Watkins of Patrick; two great grandchildren, Kayleigh Dixon and Hunter Clark; three brothers, William (Sylvia) Gleich and Junior R. “June Bug” Gleich of Patrick and Charlie (Brenda) Gleich of Rockingham, N.C.; a sister, Miriam G. (Rev. Grady) Baskins of Hartsville; and a number of nephews and nieces, including Brenda Marie Gleich of Patrick.
