On August 23, the Hartsville Chamber of Commerce hosted “Big Thursday Tailgate” at Burry Park. Johnny Hickey of Cheraw, and his wife, Joyce, were invited to come dressed in their favorite team attire. “There was a large turnout of Gamecock and Clemson fans,” said Hickey. The Chamber had been given several door prizes, one of the items being an autographed football by Gamecock Coach Steve Spurrier. Hickey, a self proclaimed lookalike of coach Spurrier, said he was honored to present the football to his friend Tom Turnage of R&B Beverage in Hartsville.
