DARIEN, Ga. — Richard Hough Jr., 71, formerly of Chesterfield, S.C., died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012, at Southeast Georgia Health System.

Funeral Service was held at 3 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 16, at Minturn Grove Baptist Church.

Command Sergeant Major Richard Hough Jr. was born in Chesterfield County, South Carolina, Jan. 22, 1941, to Richard Hough Sr., and Cassie Bell Cash Hough. Hough joined Davidson Grove Baptist Church, Chesterfield, as a young man. He also started his military career at a young age. He was presented many awards and commendations, a list of certificates, including The Bronze Star. The discipline and patriotism he learned in the Army over his 30 year career never left him, as friends and family will attest. He was an accomplished member of The Freemasons, a 33rd degree Shriner, and also a very proud member of The Christian Men’s Fellowship; a group dedicated to the service of disabled persons. After settling in Darien, Georgia, Hough joined St. Cyprianís Episcopal Church where he became a lay minister.

He was preceded in death by his father, Rev. R. L. Hough; his first wife, Mrs. Lottie Bell Lowery Hough; brothers Jerry and Willie Lee Hough; and sons Richard and Ricky Hough.

He is survived in life by a wife, January Hough; children, Priscilla (Avery) Lewis; Cassie (Kal Robinson); Tina (Rickey Blackmon); Regina (Ross Short); Alvin and LaShawnda. He is also survived by his mother, Mrs. Cassie Bell Hough; sisters, Peggy Myers (Clerow) of Ruby, SC; Susie Mae Hough of Baltimore, MD; Dr. Naomi H. Davis (Norman) of Chesterfield, VA; Eunice Ann Hough of Hartsville, SC; Dr. A. Lois Hough-Everage (Eugene) of Oak Hills, CA; brothers, John Perry (Tina) of Baltimore, MD; and Emanuel (Lorine) of Chesterfield, SC. He also has eighteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Richard will be remembered and loved by many nieces and nephews and several others.
