Next year will mark 20 years of service for Hospice of Chesterfield County. To commemorate this event, hospice is preparing a publication that will honor and celebrate those we’ve served through the years.

It is just one of several projects and events involving Hospice of Chesterfield County.

Family members and friends of those served by Hospice of Chesterfield County are encouraged to share information about their loved ones and what Hospice of Chesterfield County did to help them and their loved ones. A photo of the individual being remembered will also be needed.

“We envision this project as a testimonial to the people we’ve helped and a portrait of our wonderful community,” Community Relations/Development Coordinator Cindy Beard said. “We hope all who we have had the honor of serving will use this opportunity to pay a special tribute to their loved one.”

Submissions will need to be received by Dec. 1, to make sure your loved one is included. Each participating family will receive one complimentary copy of this keepsake publication. Contact Beard at the Hospice office at 843-623-5526 or 800-572-9322 to get complete details before submitting your information.

Adding to the holiday festivities, Hospice of Chesterfield County will honor the “Trees of Celebration” tradition.

The holiday season is a particularly appropriate time to remember both our departed loved ones as well as those who are currently special in our lives. Each year, Hospice of Chesterfield County’s “Trees of Celebration” has been enthusiastically supported by the community. Last year’s “Trees of Celebration” had over 2,000 bright white lights — each serving to honor or remember someone special.

Again this year, Hospice of Chesterfield County is sponsoring the “Trees of Celebration.” Trees on the lawn of the Hospice Building in Chesterfield will again glow with the memorials and honorariums submitted by family and friends who make a $10 contribution to Hospice of Chesterfield County for each named light.

On Dec. 2, at 4:30 p.m., there will be a lighting ceremony at the Hospice Building, located at 700 West Blvd. in Chesterfield, with the lights being illuminated and remaining lit through Dec. 28. The names of those being remembered or honored will be placed on each light and will be read during the ceremony. Donations must be received by Nov. 27, to be included in the ceremony; donations will be accepted throughout December.

Brochures detailing donation information are available at The Sunshine Shoppe in Chesterfield, and the Hospice of Chesterfield County offices in Chesterfield, 700 W. Blvd.; Cheraw, 160 Second St.; and Pageland, 114 E. McGregor St. Acknowledgements will be mailed beginning Nov. 21.

“As with all tax-deductible contributions to Hospice of Chesterfield County, the funds derived from the ‘Trees of Celebration’ help to support our special kind of caring in the community,” Beard said. “We are looking forward to repeating this radiant and meaningful way of honoring or remembering loved ones during the holiday season.”
