Gladys Patrick Gaskins, 89, died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 6, at Hopewell Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 5, at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home, and at other times at the home of her daughter, 109 Briar Crest Road, Cheraw.
Gaskins was born March 27, 1923, in Summerville, a daughter of the late George Oscar and Ellen Wolfe Patrick. She retired after 17 years of service as Transportation Manager with PDRTA, and was former owner and operator of Gaskins Skating Rink for over 25 years. Gaskins was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, Gladys was also preceded in death by her husband, William P. “Douglas” Gaskins, two daughters, Geraldine G. Oliver and Susan G. Hodge, three grandsons, Timmy Gaskins, Gary Oliver, and Jody Gaskins, two brothers, Georgilee Patrick and Robert Patrick, and by one sister, Leatha Braham.
She was survived by four sons, William P. “Buster” (Sandy) Gaskins of Hartsville; Timothy P. (Ellen) Gaskins of Locust, N.C.; George “G.M.” Gaskins; and Denny R. (Lorrie) Gaskins of Chesterfield, three daughters, Faye G. Chewning of Cheraw, Jenny G. (Kevin) Hilderbrand of Bennettsville, and Sheila G. Shaw and Barry Sims of Cheraw, 20 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.
Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home of Chesterfield, is serving the family.
