MT. CROGHAN – Mrs. Carrie Funderburk Crawford, 74, wife of Mr. Vester Crawford, passed away, November 21, 2012 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC. She is the daughter of the late Wallace and Effie Mae Funderburk, Sr., born in Chesterfield on October 8, 1938.

Carrie accepted Christ at a young age at Black Creek Missionary Baptist Church. She accepted the responsibilities and servitude of a dedicated member, a deacon, church secretary, Sunday school teacher, choir member and the treasure of the St. Paul Women’s Missionary Union.

She was united in holy matrimony to Vester T. Crawford and the union was blessed with four children. Carrie attended Petersburg High School in Pageland. She was employed at Scandura Industrial Company in Charlotte, NC. Carrie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.

Surviving are her husband, Vester Crawford, a son, Lorenzo (Yvette) Crawford of Raleigh, NC; three daughters, Sylvia Crawford of San Antonio, TX, Beverly (Bobby) Crawford-Collins of Charlotte, NC and Takisha Gleaton of San Antonio, TX, along with seven grandchildren, Quanita Henderson, Lorenzo J. Crawford, Sharmanita Davis, Ranessha Smith, Shaneesha Smith, Sylvester Crawford and Jaquille Crawford and nine-great-grandchildren; one brother, Wallace (Thelma) Funderburk of Cheraw; three sisters, Vera (Wilbur) Patron of New Brunswick, NJ, Luvenia Fuller, Rembert, SC and Roxianna Borden of Burlington, NJ; tw brothers-in-law, Wilson Crawford, of Kershaw, SC and Jerry Crawford of Charlotte, NC; two sisters-in-laws, Victoria Harris of Kershaw and Annette Pate of Charlotte, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Thelma Covington and Barbara Ford.

A funeral service was held at 1:00 pm on Sunday, November 25, 2012 at Black Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Mt. Crogahn. Services of committal/ interment/ benediction were held at Rhoads Branch A.M.E. Zion Church cemetery. Reid’s Funeral Home of Cheraw served the Crawford family.
