Young people interested in a professional, first hand view of a variety of social topics are invited to an early morning motivational seminar, Project Alpha, at Northeastern Technical College (NETC) on Saturday, Feb. 23. The 2013 Annual Youth Leadership Forum, sponsored by the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., will begin at 7:30 a.m.
The leadership forum is open to middle, junior and high school students, as well as parents. There is no fee to attend, however, pre-registration is required. Lunch will be served.
The Leadership Forum will begin with a keynote address on Bullying Prevention and Safety by the Fifth District Judicial Solicitor’s Office. Workshops will be presented by professionals on topics such as entrepreneurship, public speaking, financial literacy, money management and investing, budgeting and banking.
Professionals from the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control will discuss health issues including HIV/AIDs and STD’s prevention. A representative of the Chesterfield County Solicitor’s Office will present a program titled You and the Law. There also will be professional advice on parliamentary procedures, dress for success, as well as business and table etiquette. NETC professors and staff will offer financial aid and career planning.
