CHERAW — Three members of Northeastern Technical College’s faculty and staff were recently named local winners of the South Carolina Technical Education Association (SCTEA) Educator of the Year Awards.

Kenneth Alford, of Cheraw, was nominated for Administrator of the Year for his dedication and commitment to the management of the college as an assistant dean of arts and sciences.

Lora Chavis, of Cheraw, was nominated for Teacher of the Year for her outstanding performance as a faculty member in the arts and sciences division of the college.

And Catherine Myers, of Chesterfield, was nominated for Staff Person of the Year for her exceptional service and dedication to the college in custodial services.

The award winners were recognized at the annual SCTEA conference in February at Myrtle Beach.

Each year, faculty and staff at each of South Carolina’s technical colleges vote for local winners, based on performance criteria established by the SCTEA. This year, faculty and staff at Northeastern Technical College chose Alford, Chavis and Myers to represent the college.
