The projects were judged in three categories: biological science, physical science, and psychology/sociology with two different age groups. An independent panel of judges from area schools was brought in to determine the winners in each category. The Best in show winner and first place winners in each category will travel to the South Carolina Independent Schools Association State Science Fair held at Orangeburg Prep.on March 25, 2009.
The Best in Show winner was sixth grader, Kristina Schultz. Winners in the physical science category for sixth through eighth grades were: 1st place, Stephen Johnson; 2nd Place, Taylor Huntley; and 3rd Place, Elizabeth Robertson; and Honorable Mention, Byron Brigman, Godfrey Fisher, and Taylor Byrd. For the third through fifth grades in physical science the winners were: 1st Place, Jacob Parker, 2nd Place, Kaytlin Teal, 3rd Place, Matthew Foster; and Honorable Mention, Lawson Lee. Winners in the Biological Science category for sixth through eighth grades were: Honorable Mention, Brenne Fisher. In the third through fifth grades the Biological Science winners were: 1st Place, Bailey Forbes; 2nd Place, Kaylee Wallace. Winners in the Psychology/Behavioral Science category for sixth through eighth graders were: 1st Place, Robin Whiteman, 2nd Place, Taylor Parker. In the third through fifth grade category the winners were: 1st Place, Carson Hill; 2nd Plce Elizabeth Cox.
