Lady Eagles fall to Keenan in conference game

The Central women’s basketball team dropped its second straight game as the Lady Eagles were crushed 65-36 to Keenan in a Region IV conference game on Jan. 26.

The defeat dropped the Lady Eagles’ record to 6-10 overall, 1-5 in the Region IV conference. Leading scorer senior guard Latifah Coleman paced Central with 20 points, while Paris Funderburk and Danielle Moore both scored six points. Andrea Leach and Candice Wright both chipped in with two points.

The Lady Eagles routed Jackson 67-39 on Jan. 19.

Coleman scored a season-high 34 points, along with nine steals and four rebounds. Leach netted 11 rebounds, while Moore added nine points, pulled down 19 rebounds and had four blocks. Funderburk netted nine points and 10 boards and Dearo Nivens chipped in four points.

The Central men’s basketball team’s struggles continue as the Eagles were defeated 76-52 to Keenan in a Region IV conference contest on Jan. 26.

The loss dropped Central’s record to 5-13 overall, 2-4 in the Region IV conference.

Despite the loss, leading scorer senior center Kegan Funderburk earned his 13th double-double of the season with 23 points and pulled down 16 rebounds. Kadrick Henderson added 10 points in the defeat.
