CHESTERFIELD — Monday night the Chesterfield County Council held a special hearing over the eligibility of council member Anne Brumley’s to run in this years election as the country representative for district four. Her opponent, Douglas Curtis, called the council’s attention to a matter of her legitimacy as a candidate.

Supporters and signs promoting Douglas Curtis as the only legitimate candidate for District Four lined the streets leading up to the court house and the annex where the hearing was held. Curtis supporters even placed a sign outside the courthouse proclaiming him as the only candidate actually living within the district.

The counsel Curtis presented several items of evidence against Brumley, including certified copies of her driving record, previous voter registration and pictures of the business Brumley used to receive mail at.

After the executive session, when the council called the hearing back to order, none of the presented evidence stood up to prove the case in Curtis’ favor to void out Brumley’s voters registration. Ultimately Curtis ended up addressing the council members after the decision was delivered stating that he would be appealing the findings.

The matter will be heard in 10 days at the Chesterfield County Courthouse.

It really doesn't matter who is elected. Douglas Curtis was a problem until his defeat by Brumley. Now she is as big of a problem as he was. Curtis ran up the county's debt to the breaking point and then Brumley took ove and there was no change in direction. The entire council needs to be replaced. Can we say term limits! The council members either can't tell the truth don't know what the truth is. Get rid of them all and start over.
