Both Mike and Cathy work in the yard — Cathy designs and plants while Mike does all of the heavy digging. During the last 10 years of working in the yard, they have installed arbors, a picket fence, a water feature and several beds of flowers. They have planted a variety of annuals and perennials.
Along with the flowers, they have used boxwoods, hostas, crepe myrtles and loropetalum. The hostas are especially beautiful. A neighbor gave them one hosta several years ago and they have divided it into over 100 hostas. They also grow vegetables along the picket fence. It is obvious that the Pelfreys enjoy working in their yard because it shows.
The Yard of the Month for July will be chosen from the area that includes Highway 9 from State Road to Market Street; left on Christian Street to West Greene Street; and from State Road to Crawley Avenue to the edge of town.
