Mr. James Horace “Jimmy” Bryant, 76, died Monday, June 11, 2012.

A funeral service will be held at 5 p.m., Thursday, June 14, at Welch Neck Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home in Chesterfield.

Mr. Bryant was born May 6, 1936, in Florence County, a son of the late James Henry and Hallie Gertrude Riley Bryant. He was a life long resident of Chesterfield County and attended Cheraw Schools. Jimmy married Shirley Ann Hudson Bryant on June 18, 1955. He was a retired industrial mechanic with Crown Cork & Seal Company, and was known to be a good tractor mechanic, which he enjoyed very much. Mr. Bryant was a member and attended Harris Creek Baptist Church. Jimmy enjoyed fishing, hunting, talking with people, and drinking coffee and visiting with his friends at Johnnie’s Truck Stop. In addition to his parents, Jimmy was also preceded in death by an infant son, his beloved grandmother, Anna Lou Bryant, and by his two brothers, Rufus Bryant and Jerry Bryant.

Survivors include his wife of nearly 57 years, Shirley H. Bryant of the home; a son, Mitchell (Ann) Bryant of Society Hill; a daughter, Karen (Marion) Floyd of Society Hill; four grandchildren, Travis A. (Nikole) Floyd of the U.S. Navy, stationed in Norfolk, Va., India (Charles) Aycock of Society Hill, Justin B. Floyd of the U.S. Navy, stationed in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, and Jamie Bryant of Society Hill; and a sister, Frances (Bogan) Parker of Society Hill.
