Mavis Campbell Thompson, 81, died Friday, Nov. 2, 2012, at Emeritus at Eastover Assisted Living, Charlotte, N.C., where she was a resident.

Funeral service will be held 3 p.m., Monday, Nov. 5, at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel, Chesterfield.

Interment will be in the Chesterfield Cemetery.

Visitation is from 2 to 3 p.m., Monday, Nov. 5, prior to the service at the funeral home.

Thompson was born Jan. 16, 1931, in Chesterfield, a daughter of the late Nick Paulie and Leo Davidson Campbell. She was a graduate of Chesterfield High School, and retired as Administrator of Wesley Nursing Center in Charlotte, N.C. Mavis and her husband Bob, were also former owners of Thompson Cleaners. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, Mavis was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bob” McKay Thompson and by a sister, Pat C. Teal.

Survivors include one son, R. Michael (Muriel) Thompson of Birmingham, Ala., two daughters, Vikki T. (David) Rhoden of Charlotte, N.C. and Susan T. (Tommy) Carswell of Greenville, nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren, five brothers, J.B. Campbell of Ruby, Melvin Campbell of Elgin, Paulie Campbell of Chesterfield, Glenn Campbell of Hartsville, and Eugene Campbell of Chesterfield, five sisters, Beatrice Burch of Cheraw, Janice Rivers of Chesterfield, Anita Quick of Cheraw, Sue Holloman of Hartsville, and Linda Prohaska of West Chester, Ohio., and a host of nieces and nephews.
