Anderlecht have announced their new kits for next season. They are inspired by the Art Nouveau style, which is also prominent in Brussels.
Anderlecht chooses a historical context, referring to 1908 when the RSC Anderlecht was founded, and to the Art Nouveau movement that was adorning Brussels at the time.
The new season’s shirts feature elegant Art Nouveau patterns on the sleeves, as a tribute to the Brussels aesthetic. The home shirt is purple with the club crest on the chest and matching patterns on the sleeves. The away shirt is white with a silver floral stripe on the sleeves. There is also a nod to a third shirt to be released later, also in Art Nouveau style.
A notable aspect of the campaign is the use of generative technology and artificial intelligence to create imaginary football worlds that embrace Art Nouveau style. This approach has resulted in an innovative shirt that is both bold and striking.
In addition, the unique font for the players’ names and numbers is highlighted, specially designed by Studio Type and based on a reinterpretation of the historic Belgian font from the Art Nouveau period, called “Brel”. This font brings the tradition of organic shapes from that era into the modern digital world.
In short, the new RSC Anderlecht shirts are not only an expression of club pride, but also a tribute to Brussels’ artistic heritage, with a modern twist through technological innovation and a reinterpretation of typography.
