5G Realme GT 2 Pro sets a record; Snapdragon 8 Gen.1 chipset

You may not know Realme, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer which, along with Oppo and OnePlus, is one of the brands in the stable that belongs to BBK Electronics. Realme has a street model called GT 2 Pro, and what sets it apart from other premium devices is not the specs, but the feel of the device. The phone case is made of an environmentally friendly biopolymer made from paper pulp.

The phone is TENAA certified, the Chinese equivalent of the FCC. There are two different models, the RMX3300 and the RMX3301, the first being the one that TENAA liked. The display has a 6.7-inch QHD+ display (1440 x 3216 resolution) and is powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset. There are two memory options (8GB / 12GB RAM) with three storage options (128GB / 256GB / 512 GB).

Previous benchmark tests revealed that the phone will ship with Realme UI 3.0 on top of Android 12. Benchmarks like AnTuTu and Geekbench (plus a leaked image of the phone’s About screen) show that there will be a 12GB variant. RAM and 1 TB of storage. On the back, you’ll find a pair of 50MP cameras with a 2MP camera which is likely to be a depth sensor or a macro camera for taking very close photos.

The Realme GT 2 Pro is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen.1 chipset produced by Samsung Foundry using a 4nm process node.

The primary camera uses one of the 50-megapixel sensors, while the second is used for a 150-degree ultra-wide-angle camera. There will be a 32-megapixel front camera. Two cells will be used to create a battery with a capacity of about 5,000 mAh, and a previous 3C certification in China stated that the phone supports 65W charging. There is also speculation that the device will support 125W charging, but this has not been confirmed.

The TENAA certification lists an in-display fingerprint scanner for the GT Pro 2 and the phone must support 5G connectivity. During the second quarter of this year, Realme topped the list of the six largest smartphone manufacturers in the world, having shipped 15 million units during the quarter. The annual growth rate was 135.1%. To climb another rung on the ladder, Realme may need to double its shipments, as Vivo led the company with 32.5 million units sold for the three months ending in June.
