Huge fire in a 20-storey apartment building in…

A fire broke out in a 20-storey apartment building in Milan on Sunday evening. This was reported by the northern Italian city’s fire brigade, which has now managed to bring the fire under control. According to the mayor, there have been no reports of fatalities so far, and the fire brigade is searching the building.

The fire broke out on the upper floors of the Torre de Mori around 5:30 p.m. and then made its way down. According to Milan Today, it happened very quickly: within minutes, it is allegedly due to the cladding used in the building. The smoke plume can be seen for miles.

Emergency services arrived in droves, and 70 families were quickly evacuated. The fire brigade has now succeeded in putting out the flames, but the damage is very severe. Italian media reported that about 20 people with smoke poisoning were taken to hospital.

According to Beppe Sala, mayor of Milan, there are currently no deaths. The fire brigade is currently searching the building door-to-door for residents who may be trapped.
