The chemicals company 3M received an environmental support (€887,542.56) in 2014 for its investment in the production of solvent-free adhesives. In addition, in 2018, there was a strategic turnaround support (€303,925.60) for training and support for the environment a year later (€341,235) for investments in a new thermo-oxidation unit.
Meanwhile, it emerged that 3M, while receiving Flemish support, continued to seriously pollute. Krevits confirmed Thursday that if it turns out that the company has not complied with Flemish regulations, the aid will be refunded.
Support for the 2019 project has not yet been fully disbursed. Additional payment is pending. “The disbursement of this aid is always done in several installments and follows the checks,” Krevits said on Thursday. “The company can get a first 30 percent premium if it can prove that the project has started. The second 30 percent tranche occurs if the company can show that the project is 60 percent complete and the last 40 percent is paid only after control over investments.
Crevits reiterated that it has instructed that all 3M support files be thoroughly checked for proper implementation of investments and compliance with all support terms and regulations.
