The Black Caps won the Twenty20 World Cup training camp for the Netherlands

The Black Caps defeated the Netherlands by six runs in their first Twenty20 World Cup training match on Sunday (New Zealand time).

Captain Kane Williamson and Mark Chapman, along with the nursing hamstring nickels, selected 11 players from the hottest spot at the ICC Academy in Dubai for the Martin Cup as captain of the New Zealand team.

Mitchell Santner joined the camp in the morning after winning his Chennai Super Kings IPL, not after Kolkata Knight Riders players Loki Ferguson, Tim Saudi and Tim Seafert joined the Black Caps bubble that evening.

Fellow all-rounder Jimmy Neesham scored 33 and Devon Conway (16) helped well in the middle as he took the wicket gloves for the match when the Kiwis scored 154-8 in 20 overs.

In return, the Netherlands approached and finished 148-8.

Former New Zealand captain Stephen Fleming also joined the camp for a few days, taking his Super Kings team to greater IPL glory.

“Obviously he has a lot of experience and I think he was in Chennai for 14 years [since his playing days]Santner, who was on the team, said:

“He has seen a lot of T20 cricket and he has a good record as a coach in franchise cricket, so he will bring some good things.”
