Five world crowns, four in a row between 1998 and 2010, are undoubtedly significant moments in the history of black fern. But they are only too far away. As they prepare for the 100th Test on Monday morning (NZT), here are 10 unforgettable moments as they face England in Exeter.
First World Cup win
There is nothing like the first world title won by Black Fern in the Netherlands in 1998.
Led by captain Farah Palmer, who became the first woman to sit on the New Zealand rugby team in 2016, they were defeated in the first match to gain official world rugby status.

World Rugby
NZ Women’s NZ player Black Fern is now in the World Rugby Hall of Fame.
The biggest win in team history
He talked about releasing a statement in their first official World Cup match, beating Germany by 128 points in the Netherlands in 1998.
134-6 is their biggest win in the history of the wrecking mission team, however they gave a good boost with a 117-0 tie four years later against Germany.
This is the third time they have beaten France 109-0 in 1996, crushing three digits.
Portia Woodman scored eight attempts in a game
Black Fern scored three points against Hong Kong in 2017, making him the fourth highest scorer in team history.
Woodman was the main destroyer, mocking their unhappy opposition by fighting for eight World Cup records.
On the day that the Black Ferns scored 19 attempts, the powerful winger took a two-point lead over the world record, held by Hong Kong player Ashley Billings, who scored 10 tries against Singapore in 1994.
Next
When Black Fern defended their title in Barcelona in 2002, they won the World Cup twice in a row.
Back under Palmer, they qualified for the final after securing wins against Germany, Australia and France, beating England (19-9) in the final.
Greetings
Palmer and Anna Richards made history in 2014, when they were the first Black Ferns to be inducted into the IRB Hall of Fame.
A tough but talented pioneer, Richards won four World Cups in his two decades with the team and played in Test matches in his 40s.
Having played as captain in 35 Test matches before retiring in 2006, Black Ferns has only lost once under Palmer.
Fiao’o Faamausili makes history
When Fiao’o Faamausili played Canada in the 2017 World Cup in Ireland, he became the first Black Fern with 50 Tests.
Considered one of the best in the game, Faamausili marks the event by scoring 48-5 romp for an attempt in Dublin.
A police detective by trade, he made his debut in Black Ferns in 2002, ten years before ordering.
Faamausili played in five major World Cups before retiring in 2018.
Time for a hat trick win
They did it again in 2006, this time in Canada.
Like the previous two World Cups, with solid victories over Canada, Samoa, Scotland and France, the Black Fern dominated the final.
After giving up just 17 points on the way to the play-offs, the final was another tough game against England, with Black Ferns winning 25-17.
Black Ferns players were awarded semi-professional contracts
Appreciated as a major deal between the New Zealand Rugby and Players Association, semi-pro deals were put on the Black Ferns table in 2018.
“I honestly think this is a good deal. We have to be positive about it. This is a start,” Kendra Coxetz said at the time.
Basically, 30 of the 15-year-old female elite athletes earn between $ 40,000 and $ 45,000 a year, while female contract players accumulate 50 days as part of their patriotic duty.
At the time, NZR rugby general manager Neil Sorenson said Black Ferns would enjoy the same terms as the “Super Rugby Player of the Year”.

Again and again and again. The Black Fern won four consecutive World Cup titles, beating England 13-10 in a thrilling final.
Kelly Brasier, who had the best 48 points of the tournament, and Carla Hohiba, who had all 13 points from Black Ferns in the final, had consecutive wins against England in the World Cup final.
England will win the championship in France in 2014, losing to Black Ferns Ireland and finishing fifth.
Back to the top of the world
The bitter disappointment of finishing fifth in 2014 was buried in Ireland three years after Black Ferns defeated defending champions England 41-32 in a thrilling final.
In the win, Prop Toga scored a hat-trick to give his side a 17-10 lead before the break, and the game resumed shortly thereafter.
Full-back Celica Vinyada also played a key role in the two-match winning streak by Victoria Chobretsky-Navatali.
Blackfurns captain Famoussili said: “We have dug deep. England really gave us the first 15-20 minutes. But our girls showed the quality in our team and the culture in our team, and I could not be proud. After the final whistle.
