In the mid-1990s, American journalist Martha Frankel had to wait nine days for an interview with actor Bruce Willis. Here’s what the journalist on the podcast Hollywood with presenter Dana Schwartz had to say.
The interview, which went on at long last, took place about 25 years ago. She was supposed to meet a Die Hard representative in the British city of London, but she remained tied up for several days. She doesn’t know why he made her wait more than a week. The two eventually met in nearby Windsor.
Bruce didn’t want to talk about anything. It was incredibly boring and not part of the fun.
Frankel describes the interview as a “real nightmare.” “He didn’t want to talk about anything. It was incredibly boring and he wasn’t involved in the fun,” she says. She had previously offered to play poker during the icebreaker interview. “But he didn’t want to hear about it.”
She remembers that no other guests were allowed in the Windsor restaurant where they met. “So he didn’t have to sign autographs.” The actor also did not show any initiative to pay the lunch bill or provide confidential information. Frankl has been completely turned off by the German-born actress, and her story continues. “It was nice to see that no one said anything when Bruce got back to his hotel. No one recognized him.”
