Agents on the Greek island of Chalki will arrest fraudsters with an 8-hp police car that must be recharged after 70 kilometers. The top speed of the Citroën Ami electric car is 45 km/h.
During the chase, the cops must hope that the criminals will fall to the ground laughing as they are chased by the best police car in the world. They don’t like their speed: if you pedal hard, you’ll stay in front of that police car, even on a bike.
Moreover, after seventy kilometers it ended with the Citroën Ami, because then it must be connected to the charging cable again. Fortunately for the local police forces, the circumference of the island is only 34 kilometers. As long as the thieves do not drive more than two rounds around the island, agents can still catch them.
Chalki wants to become the first eco-island in Greece. In this context, Citroen is donating six electric cars to local authorities. In addition to four Citroën Ami cars (two for the police and two for the Coast Guard), two electric versions of the Jumpy and the C4 will come to the island.
